Toshiba Portege R500

Toshiba claims to have the thinnest and lightest laptop in the world (779g and 25.5mm).
So, Toshiba for keeping the title of world’s thinnest and lightest laptop for its Portégé R500 is releasing Portégé R500-11J this month in Japan. Also, Toshiba is releasing another model of this line-up called Portégé R500-11I along 11J.
As you know, Toshiba Portege R500 has got impressive highlight features like:
Portege R500has got 7mm integrated ultra-thin DVD rewriter Optical drive.
It offers a 120GB (5400 RPM) Serial-ATA or 32GB or a 64GB solid-state hard drive as an option.
It weighs 2.4-lbs and in the third quarter of 2007 its weight will reduce to 1.76 lbs. So, at that time it will be an ultra portable laptop with weight of a UMPC!
It is among the first laptop that its 12.1" display has got a transreflective LED backlight and can also be switched off outdoors to use natural light.
The battery life can be extended up to 12.5 hours.
A spill-resistant keyboard
It has got 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth technology.
It provides 3 USB ports, a FireWire port, VGA out, SD slot, and a PC Card
The model that uses a 64GB solid state drive retails for $2,999 with a DVD drive, and $2,690 without it. Other Portege R500 models with 100GB, standard hard drives start at $1,999. All R500s have 12.1-inch screens. The company says its lightest model in the R500 series, at 1.72 pounds, is the one with the 64GB solid state drive, a three-cell battery and no optical disk drive.
