Dell has introduced several models with solid state drives, including the Latitude D430, which starts at $2,109. The 3-pound laptop with a 12.1-inch screen has a 32GB flash-based drive. The company is using Samsung’s solid state drives in several of its models, some of which offer the choice of hard drive versus solid state drive. Among them is the Latitude D830. With a 60GB hard disk drive, it starts at $1,405. Going with a 160GB hard drive adds $180 to the price. But choosing a 32GB solid state drive costs $641. A 64GB solid state drive adds $1,040 to the $1,405 base price, bringing the total to $2,445.
